Sinopsis y resumen del libro HENRY V

Among the most beloved works in William Shakespeare's story, Henry V is the exciting conclusion of the story of the young 'Prince Hal' initiated in Henry IV, edited by A R Humphreys with an introduction by Ann Kaegi.

We few, we few, we few happy, we bands of brothers For he who today sheds his blood with me, will be the Young King Henry of my brother who makes war against France.

But, contaminated by his father's crimes, and with enemies among his own men, he must face the difficult responsibilities of royalty.

In passionate speeches, first in the siege of Harfleur, where he urges his men to "return to the breach," and again on St. Crispin's Day, before the battle of Agincourt, Henry assembles English troops to achieve spectacular victories that change the course of history.

But even with the battles won, the war is not over yet - to ensure its success, Henry must secure a marriage to the French princess, Catherine de Valois.

And can triumph in France prevent a civil war in England?

This book includes a general introduction to Shakespeare's life and Elizabethan theater, a separate introduction to Henry V, a chronology of his works, suggestions for further reading, an essay discussing interpretation options both on stage and on screen, and a commentary.

William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was born to John Shakespeare and Mary Arden in late April 1564 at Stratford-upon-Avon.

He wrote about 38 plays (the exact number is uncertain), many of which are considered the most exceptional plays ever produced, including Romeo and Juliet (1595), Henry V (1599), Hamlet (1601), Othello (1604), King Lear (1606), and Macbeth (1606), as well as a collection of 154 sonnets, among the deepest and most influential love poems in English.

"Shakespeare was the greatest humanist who ever lived."

(Trevor Nunn, former artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company)
